Scott Phelps & Mason is a modern full service Saskatchewan law firm. The firm operates out of its offices in the historic MacMillan Building in downtown Saskatoon. The lawyers at Scott Phelps & Mason share a total of over 90 years of professional legal experience in Saskatchewan.

The partners, who have been active members of the Saskatoon bar for many years, are (in alphabetical order): Andrew Mason, Gordon Phelps and Kevin Scott. Our associate Nancy Brown has carried on a busy litigation practice since being admitted to the bar in 2002.

    Areas of Practice

    Kevin has practiced law in Saskatchewan since 1978, with an emphasis on business, franchise, commercial and real estate law. He is a trade marks agent and also has extensive experience in the areas of wills and estates, personal injury claims, and residential school claims. Throughout his career, Kevin has represented a broad spectrum of clientele, ranging from individuals to large corporations.

    Professional & Community Involvement

    Kevin has had a life-long commitment to sport, and has been an active volunteer in the Saskatoon and Saskatchewan communities:

    • player and coach with the Saskatoon Hilltops Junior Football Club spanning 15 years
    • member of the Board of Directors of the Meewasin Valley Authority (Saskatoon's river valley conservation and development authority) for 14 years
    • co-chair of an international sports and cultural exchange between Tartu, Estonia and the City of Saskatoon
    • member of various local community, civic and school organizations and committees
    • coach, organizer, executive member and volunteer for his children's minor sports, including hockey, softball, baseball, canoe and kayaking
    • years of involvement with Sask Sport Inc., the Federation of Provincial Sport Governing Bodies, including a term as President, Vice- President of Saskatchewan Lotteries Trust Fund, Board Member, and chairing and serving on many committees of the Federation and its member organizations
    • Member of the Board of Trustees of the provincial Community Initiatives Fund

    Professional activities

    Professional activities have included:
    • Chair, Saskatoon Ad Hoc committee for the Saskatchewan Corporations Branch
    • presentations to Canadian Bar Association conferences
    • presentation to Saskatchewan Physical Education Association conference on Liability in Sport
    • facilitating dispute resolutions in sport
    • member of dispute resolution tribunal in sport

    Areas of Practice

    Andrew's practice emphasis is in the areas of labour and human resources law, adminstrative law, litigation (civil and criminal), as well as intellectual property and information technology law. Prior to entering law, Andrew worked in international trade (Interimco Ltd., Ottawa, 1978-1979), arctic transportation (Northern Transportation Co. Ltd. 1975-1977, Northwest Territories) and nuclear physics (Queen's University, Kingston, summer 1974).

    Andrew's involvement in the community and legal profession includes:
